Duffey Congratulates Twelve Cobb County Students on Winning Eighth Annual Allatoona Ally Artist Challenge
ATLANTA, Ga. (Jan. 15, 2013) – Duffey Communications, Inc. and the Cobb County-Marietta Water Authority and Cobb County Water System applaud the winners of the 2013 Allatoona Ally Artist Challenge. Drawings by 12 Cobb County elementary school students were chosen as the winning illustrations out of more than a record 1,130 entries from twenty-seven schools.
The annual contest called for local fourth- and fifth- grade students to draw Ally – the scaly, but lovable ambassador for Lake Allatoona – conserving water in her home and community.
A panel of judges – including Alison Bartlett, Cobb County Board of Education Chair, 2008-2012; Chris Holcomb, 11 Alive Weekend Meteorologist; Chris Purvis, Lake Allatoona Army Corps of Engineers Park Ranger; Walter Reeves, Host of “The Lawn and Garden Show,” and Angela Seckington, Radio Disney Promotions Manager – carefully selected the twelve winning illustrations.
The top drawings were then featured in a coloring book distributed throughout the community and available to download at watersmart.net. A party was also held to honor the artists and the winners were sworn in as Junior Water Deputies.
“Seeing this program grow shows how dedicated our students and schools are to promoting smart water usage,” says Sherri Fallin Simmons, president and chief executive officer for Duffey Communications. “We congratulate all the winners and look forward to seeing more wonderful entries next year.”
